The Church of St. Mary (Crkva sv. Marije) is today outside of the Bapska settlement, but at the time of its construction, in the Middle Ages, the Bapska settlement was around the church. During the Ottoman rule, the village moved more to the north, closer to the place Novak. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary is mentioned in censuses of parishes from 1332-1337. The Romanesque-Gothic church on the graveyard in Bapska consists of the Romanesque nave and a lower and narrower Romanesque apse. It is believed that the oldest parts of the construction come from the beginning of the 13th century. The church was twice prolonged towards the west in the Gothic period, so that its portal is also Gothic. By the beginning of the 18th century, the church was reconstructed in the baroque style, in the first half of the 19th century, the sacristy and the atrium with the outside altar were built, and in 1855, the small tower over the front made of bricks was raised. The Church of St. Mary in Bapska is one of the few preserved Romanesque monuments in Slavonia and Srijem, and it is an important monument for studying of the architecture of the Middle Ages in Croatia. There is a painting of the Mother of God made based on Lucas Cranach in the church.
