The Church of St. Luke, called "Lučica" by general public, is situated 3 km to the west of the village Lipovac. That is a single nave Gothic church with a polygonal apse and a characteristic wooden bell-tower. According to information sources, there was a Templar monastery at the location first, and then a Franciscan monastery, which was demolished with the arrival of Turks, which means after 1536, but positively before 1580. It was first renewed in the 19th century, and underwent a thorough reconstruction during the time of the Bishop Strossmayer, when Gothic windows and the southern doors were walled in, and when it got the flat roof. The inventory and the altar acquired baroque features. After the reconstruction, it was not restored in greater detail, one could rather say that it was mended, and, since 1945, it was used only on occasional festivals.During the Patriotic Defense War, it happened to be on the front line and it received a direct shot in the apse. In 2000, its thorough reconstruction began. Then it was ascertained that there had been a Franciscan monastery situated along the southern side of the church with which it had been connect-ed, and that the sacristy was added to it later by interven-tions. "Lučica" represents an extraordinary example of the Gothic architecture of the 14 th century. It is situated on an artificially created island which was fully formed by the meandering backwater of the Spačva brook.
